KONTAKT 2023

The 27th International Theater Festival Kontakt 2023 will take place in Toruń from May 31 to June 7. The festival will be a competition, and the prizes will be awarded by an international jury.

On the festival stages and in the open air, we will see 15 performances from Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Romania and Poland. Some performances will be audio-described.

Performances will be accompanied by talks with artists, master classes and meetings between young directors and masters. In addition, there will be a review of films about Eimuntas Nekrosius.

The accompanying event will be the Culture Fair “w Kontakcie! – promotion of the cultural sector from the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region” and Technology Fair – with demonstrations of equipment for theatrical multimedia effects.

At the festival:

INK

Concept and direction: Dimitris Papaioannou

Dimitris Papaioannou captivates audiences around the world with his monumental
stage works in which each tableau is an aesthetic revelation.

1989

Teatr im. Juliusza Słowackiego (Kraków, Poland)
Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre (Poland)

Direction: Katarzyna Szyngiera

1989 shows the fall of communism from a new perspective. Seen through the eyes of three fascinating couples, the events known from newsreels and history books come to life on stage: in the lives of the Frasyniuk, Wałęsa and the Kuroń families.

Bros

Societas (Cesena, Italy)

Direction: Romeo Castellucci

Castellucci decided to experiment by working, rather than with professional actors, with men recruited through a public call. The actors/extras all sign a contract in which they make a commitment to carry out
every order they will be given. The director’s reflection focuses on the inordinately carefree ease with which we agree to obey, becoming voluntarily ignorant executioners.
