Lubov Ranyevskaya returns to her family estate, which is about to be auctioned off. The only way to clear her debt is to sell the old family orchard. The Cherry Orchard is Anton Chekhov’s last theatrical play, about which he wrote: “It has turned out not a drama but a comedy, in places even a farce.” The audience will find themselves inside an old manor house, where they will find respite, laughter and detachment.
The Cherry Orchard, directed by Łukasz Kos, combines penetrating observations of social life with a kaleidoscope of strong emotions and changes of perspective. Twelve full-blooded characters will appear on the stage, connected by a network of dependencies, with whom it will be easy to identify. The non-traditional auditorium layout, enabling the audience to move during some parts of the performance, and the period costumes will allow you to immerse yourself in the world of Chekhov’s characters.
