Teatr Biuro Podróży tells us a refugee story, looking at the circumstances from the point of view of an inhabitant of a besieged and bombed city, a human being who would not have thought of becoming a refugee just a few years ago. The protagonists of the play are children – innocent witnesses to the death of their loved ones, victims of exile, hunger and violence. For these children and their future security, the actors will try to put themselves in the role of a refugee for a moment. Teatr Biuro Podróży uses the means of open-air theatre: symbolic stage sets, fire, stilts and puppets – children’s figures and poignant music. The company tells us a story of people who have found themselves in the turmoil of war and who have nothing left but dreams of escape.
At the Kontakt festival Teatr Biuro Podróży has so far presented Giordano (in 1994), Carmen Funebre (in 1997) and Swinepolis (in 2004), all directed by Paweł Szkotak.
