The action of the drama (with elements of comedy) covers the week from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Eve. “It’s supposed to be a Christmas day!” – shouts Wife (Maria Kierzkowska) through a laid table to the cheated husband (Marek Milczarczyk), who does not love her anymore because she does not give him a chance for that. She is strongly impatient because her lover, Fedycki (Michał Marek Ubysz) did not come “as the fourth” to share the wafer. Fedycki does not have time, because he successfully seduces Widow (Anna Romanowicz-Kozanecka), he is her debtor. And worst of all, “odd number of people sit at the table! – Wife shouts – so I wonder which one of us will die this year? “. She or Child? “Fortunately”, Miss Mania (Matylda Podfilipska) comes as “the fourth person”. Miss Mania – learned cunning and ruthlessness by the hardships of life, sees her life chance in the breakdown of the family, so she becomes a “tool of destiny”, directing intrigue in such a way to be able to take Wife’s place at New Year’s Eve. “What kind of life you had here, professor? constant bickering? fights? I poor, would not want to live in this hell! I’ll take care of the house. It will be quiet, it will be fine … “. It is the most important that there is no scandal! Problems are swept under the carpet. The witness and the victim of family breakdown is the Child. So let’s look closely at our childhood, let’s look at our parenting through this great, current comedy, written one hundred and four years ago – Karina Piwowarska
