“Hamlet” is the first of the great Shakespearean tragedy. On Toruń stage for the last time it was realized in 1970. In the current season, Shakespeare’s text will be challenged by the director of the younger generation, Małgorzata Bogajewska.  Hamlet sees the ghost of Hamlet-father, the old king, who confesses to Prince the truth about his death. He was murdered by his brother – the present king. Young Hamlet is bound by honor to fulfill his filial role – to avenge the father’s murder. From now on Hamlet confronts the lies with the reality, putting friendship and love at stake. He grows a murderer in himself, slowly matures to a crime. In Toruń performance, the world is full of pain and the clown follows each tragedy.

Starring: Małgorzata Abramowicz/Agnieszka Wawrzkiewicz, Maria Kierzkowska, Aleksandra Lis, Anna Magalska-Milczarczyk, Matylda Podfilipska, Mirosława Sobik, Wanda Ślęzak (guest), Jolanta Teska, Mieczysław Banasik, Dariusz Bereski, Jarosław Felczykowski,  Radosław Garncarek, Paweł Kowalski, Marek Milczarczyk, Tomasz Mycan, Niko Niakas, Grzegorz Woś, Michał Marek Ubysz.

Duration: 2 hours 40 min. (with a break)

The history of the Danish prince in a collision with the stage requires to choose from a variety of meanings that it consists of. “Hamlet” directed by Małgorzata Bogajewska is primarily a story of idealism doomed to failure in the world of falsehood. The crime here is still one of the nonsense of reality. Not so much an explosion of growing anger as a hopeless attempt to cleanse the world. Hamlet performed by Grzegorz Woś is an outsider, not accepting the wickedness of the world and doubting in its meaning. (…) Grzegorz Woś is the most convincing when he mocks, turns into a joke. (Mirosława Kruczkiewicz, “Nowości”, 14.11.2008)
